TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Route 37 bridge eastbound from Toms River to Seaside Heights over Barnegat Bay will have closures later in October for bridge testing, the state Department of Transportation said.
The testing is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Oct. 28 and continue until 5 a.m. Oct. 29, the NJDOT said.
There will be 15-minute stoppages during that time to allow for testing of the lift bridge, officials said.
Attenuator trucks will be used to block the road while testing takes place. Motorists are advised to use caution, slow down and expect delays.
The work is part of National Bridge Inspection Standards bi-annual inspections, which are federally funded for all bridges in the state.
As part of the inspection, every movable bridge goes through Interlock Safety Testing to ensure the bridge operates safely for both road and marine traffic.
