Your Engagement Story Could Win $1,000 Towards Wedding Bands

RED BANK, NJ – Couples in New Jersey who are tying the knot have an opportunity to win $1,000 towards their wedding bands, thanks to a contest being held by a local jeweler.

The contest is the brainchild of Leonardo Jewelers, of Red Bank.

“Our family has served the area for over 50 years, and we thought it was time to give back – but we wanted to do it in a fun way,” said Michael Zeik, one of the store’s owners.

Leonardo Jewelers are asking couples to tell their engagement story on the store’s Facebook page as part of their “Share The Love” contest. Facebook users will vote on the stories, and the couple with the highest total will win $1,000 towards their wedding bands. All participants will receive $50 towards a gold or platinum band.

“We think the newly engaged in New Jersey will have a lot of fun getting their friends and family to vote,” says Leo Zeik, another of the owners. “We also think it dovetails nicely with Red Bank’s Wedding Walk on March 24th – when the recently engaged will visit retailers throughout the town that offer wedding related services.”

Leonardo Jewelers began as a small store in Elizabeth during the early 1960s. Leonard Zeik, a Cuban immigrant who arrived in the U.S. shortly after Castro’s rise to power, founded the business.  His small business began gaining attention when he became an Official Rolex Jeweler in the 1970s.  He began importing jewelry directly from Italy, and became the first American to offer some of the most renowned Italian designer brands.

“These steps really put the store on the map,” says Lourdes Zeik Chivi, another owner.  “Suddenly, we had the most fabulous collection of jewelry that anyone could imagine.”

Today, Leonardo Jewelers continues to focus on jewelry and watches, and continues to be owned and operated by Mr. Zeik’s five children.  Leonardo Jewelers was a runner up this year as New Jersey Family Business of the Year and just recently, Monmouth Health & Life’s winner in their reader’s choice awards as best of Monmouth County’s jewelers.
