TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River residents who have been asking to see the township council's agenda packets have gotten their wish.

An update to the Toms River Township website has included putting the agenda packet, with full resolutions, any ordinances under consideration, and the computerized bill list, with the council agenda.

It's a request that residents have been making for some time, as the resolutions in particular are read by title during the meetings before the council votes.

So far, only the council information is being made available online. Information on matters before the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment posted online is still limited to the agendas for those meetings, meaning any citizen who wants details on a project has to go to Town Hall to examine the application.

Some towns, including Brick Township and Point Pleasant Beach, post more information for planning or zoning board applications, including the supporting materials — a change that happened during the pandemic when people were barred or discouraged from going to town hall to look at the applications. That process became easier for those towns because the materials were submitted as PDFs — portable document files, which are easy to share and access.

Additional updates are coming to the township website, officials said, though it's unclear when the work will be complete.
