Back To The Beach With Chris Christie: More Memes

The memes keep trickling in. After a week with a lot of grim news, we thought everyone could use a laugh.

The public outrage over Gov. Chris Christie's outing at Island Beach State Park has died down ... sort of.

The outing, during his shutdown of most of New Jersey's state government — including its parks — during the budget impasse, continues to prompt criticism. Last week, as Christie auditioned for a sports radio gig on WFAN FM in New York, he got into an argument with a New Jersey resident who ripped him for the outing.

It's led to suggestions to sell or rent out the mansion, which has been a beach home for the state's governors for decades.

The furor over the photos of the outing taken by NJ Advance Media photographer Andrew Mills and published by NJ.com has died down, but the memes — spawning in the hours following NJ.com's publication of the photos — continue to pop up.

We published a collection of the Christie beach memes on July 4, but in the days since more have popped up that were equally entertaining. After a week where the news has been pretty grim, we thought folks could use a chuckle or two.

Most of these have been collected from Facebook; some were sent directly to me by friends. I've put sources where I can pinpoint the brilliance behind them. To those whose creativity is not credited, we salute you too.

Some of them are quintessentially Jersey:

A cameo in "Clerks" with Kevin Smith.
Beside the boat abandoned on Route 1.
Blocking the bridge.
Hangin' with The Boss.
Movie themes continued to be popular:
Princess Leia waiting for Luke Skywalker to free her.
A tornado of his own creating.
And Wonka thought Augustus Sloop was bad.
Wall-E seems surprised.
He's a tad too calm, we think.
He has popped up in art, both classical paintings and pop art:
The ladies seem a tad nonplussed.
Don't forget the puffy little clouds.

Who can forget "Where's Waldo?" (If you can't find him, we've put the solution at the very end of the article.)
Now that's a beach chair.

And he's appeared in the news elsewhere:

Putin looks comfy.
Visiting with Amelia Earheart in a little-known trip to Japan.
And then there's these:
The Macy's Thanksgiving parade is everyone's favorite.

And here's a few where the source appears to be clear:

There are a couple of links to others' collections for you to enjoy as well.

There's a collection put together by Broadway actor Stephen Wallem, who photoshopped Christie into every current Broadway show. You can see that collection by clicking here and going to Observer.com. Lunching with Bette Midler is pretty funny.

Univision put together a collection. It's truly an international sensation.

Even Sarah Palin posted the meme. You know it's bad when you're getting mocked by Sarah Palin:

And one clever person put together a quiz for people to identify the pop culture references:

If you missed the original collection — Christie Beach Photo Spawns Epic Internet Meme — we suggest you check them out.

I hope you chuckle as much as I did. And for those still looking for Christie in the "Where's Waldo?" picture, here's the solution (I had to blown the photo up on the computer to find him):
