Beware Of Flooded Roads In Low-Lying Areas Of Toms River This Morning

Drivers this morning should exercise care in low-lying areas of Toms River and Ocean County as a coastal flood advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service.

The service issued a coastal flood advisory for Toms River and other coastal areas Monday morning as Ocean County begins to feel the effects of an oncoming nor’easter, according to the NWS website.

High tide at Seaside Heights is expected to occur at 8:06 a.m. today, with tides as much as 7 feet higher than normal. The coastal flood watch will remain in place through the duration of the nor’easter, the service says.

Heavy rain is expected to begin this evening and continue through Tuesday, worsening flooding issues in low-lying areas, as the nor’easter moves in, according to the National Weather Service. The very northwestern corner of New Jersey could see some snow in this storm, forecasters say, but most of the snow is expected to stay west and north of the state, as temperatures are expected to stay in the 40s.
