Blizzard Closes Toms River Regional Schools For 2nd Day

With more than 23 inches of snow and flakes still falling, roads remain hazardous, authorities say.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — As a blizzard continues to drop heavy snow across the area, the Toms River Regional Schools have announced schools will be closed again Tuesday.

Toms River had received 23.5 inches of snow as of 10:45 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service, and the towns in the school district — Beachwood, Pine Beach and South Toms River — were experiencing similar amounts.

The district did not have emergency closure days built into the 2025-26 school calendar. A note on the calendar says make-up days "will be deducted from subsequent days and/or added to the end of the year as early dismissal days beginning June 16."

The district was closed Jan. 26 and 27 as the area dug out from a snowstorm, which means the district now has four days to make up.
