Car, Suspects Found In Assault On Toms River Cop: Sheriff

The two people in the car took off after hitting the police officer, the sheriff's office said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ -- UPDATE, 4:30 p.m.: The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office said via Nixle alert that the vehicle involved in what is now being labeled an assault on the Toms River police officer has been located along with the suspects in the incident.

A Toms River police officer has been hit by a car in the parking lot near the New Jersey Motor Vehicles Services office in Silverton, according to a Nixle alert issued shortly before 1 p.m. by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office.

The officer was hit and dragged, according to the alert. Police are searching for a black Honda, either a Civic or an Accord, with temporary license plates from Pennsylvania. The driver is described as a Hispanic male, the alert said.
