Bring A Book, Have A Look As Students Present Seussical, Make Toms River Musical

Toms River Intermediate East students will perform the show this weekend while collecting books for needy kids.

TOMS RIVER, NJ -- They’ll dance a dance, they’ll sing some songs, and if you want, you can sing along.

On Sunday they will take the stage, but first they want you to turn a page. Bring a book, or maybe four, that you and yours need no more, that you can share, and give away, to give someone else a happy day.

On Sunday, Feb. 28, the Toms River Intermediate East Players will be performing a matinee of Seussical for children in Toms River. The performance will begin at 11 a.m.

Admission is free, but to support Read Across America, a donation of a new or gently used children’s book per child attending is suggested. All books will be donated to local charities that help families in need.

Read Across America, which is held the first week of March, celebrates the birthday of Dr. Seuss, Theodore Giesel, who was born March 2, 1904.

After the performance, the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, and the rest of the cast will read a story to the children and be available for a meet and greet, the school district said.

“The goal is to show our children the joy of reading and build a nation of readers,” the district said. Call 732-505-5775 to reserve a ticket to the show.

There is an additional performance Saturday, Feb. 27, at 5 p.m.
