Budget Hearings, Land Deal Details On Tap In Toms River
A proposal for the town to buy land from the Toms River Regional Schools should have more details this week.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Details on a potential land deal between Toms River Township and the Toms River Regional School District should become more clear this week when both bodies are scheduled to meet.
Both entities are scheduled to meet Wednesday. The council meeting is set for 6 p.m. in Town Hall, 33 Washington St., and the school board is set to meet at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Toms River High School North.
Township officials two weeks ago announced they were looking at the possibility of buying a parcel next to Silver Bay Elementary School in the Silverton section of town, to preserve it as open space.

The purchase also is seen as a way for the school district to fill a $3.8 million hole in the district's 2023-24 budget that remains in spite of state moves to reduce a whopping $14.4 million cut in the district's state funding.
