Description:&nbsp;&nbsp;Join Coastline Adventures and Toms River Recreation for a four day-long camp for beginner and intermediate level stand-up paddleboarders.&nbsp;&nbsp;Progressive skill and team building sessions cover equipment familiarization and proper fit, location and condition assessment, on and off water safety and self-rescue skills, fundamental paddling techniques and navigation, and local wildlife and environmental awareness.&nbsp; Each day offers a new adventure, paddling, swimming, and fun activities.
Requirements:&nbsp; Participants MUST know how to swim.
Equipment:&nbsp; Board, leash, and life vest are provided for use during class.&nbsp; Participants may bring their own equipment, rash guards or wetsuits.&nbsp; Beach badges are NOT required to attend class or for guardians to watch class but are required if participants or guardians plan on staying after class ends.&nbsp; Participants should bring their own sunscreen, towel, drinks, snacks and footwear.
Coastline Adventures Surfing School is accredited by the National Surf/SUP Schools and Instructors Association and brings over 30 years of professional experience providing safe, high-quality surf, bodyboard, and stand-up paddleboard instruction throughout the Jersey Shore. Led by Lance Tompkins and Jennifer Steffener, both NSSIA Certified Master Level Surf Instructors, the school combines nationally recognized training standards with deep local knowledge of Ocean County beaches, bays, tides, and weather conditions. Their approach blends skill development, ocean and bay safety and education, confidence building, fitness, and environmental awareness in a fun, supportive setting. Lance brings over 50 years of surfing experience and decades of teaching board sports, while Jennifer contributes over 30 years of surfing, bodyboarding, paddleboarding, wellness, and movement instruction experience. Together, they have successfully taught thousands of participants through recreation departments, schools, camps, and private programs. Instructor: Joseph Rogine
These classes are designed for both&nbsp;beginning to advanced students&nbsp;who want to sharpen their skills in drawing. I have taught students for over 25 years who have never picked up a pencil to draw to those who have been quite advanced.
It is an academic course, (academic being defined as that which can be taught). Drawings are created by copying master drawings, simple to complex still-life objects and classical plaster casts. The student usually begins by copying a master drawing that is supplied to them.
All students start out using graphite pencils with grades of 2H HB 2B. The capabilities and limitations of drawing materials and drawing instruments are discussed at length along with their proper handling. Classes are essentially about learning how to see nature and the world as an artist sees it, through the language and medium of drawing.
The student’s eye will gradually become trained and sensitive on how to compose a layout on the page, assessing proportion, elementary perspective, gauge angles, identify shapes, access the degree of curvature of forms, locate hidden movements and linear rhythms, the structure and modeling of form and the study of light and shade. This opens a whole new world towards a visual literacy that was very common in school curricula 100 to 150 years ago.
Depending on a students’ progress and particular interest repeat students are free to experiment with various drawing mediums like charcoal, pastel pencil, pen and ink etc., along with the drawing surfaces applicable to their chosen medium.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ocartistsguild.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Joe-Rogine-supply-list-2023.pdf" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Joseph Rogine supply list 2024.</a>

From saucers to superheroes and anything in between, the subject matter is your selection !!! Utilize your own photo reference material, or borrow from the instructor. This class is for teens who enjoy making art but need guidance with drawing skills, use of materials, color choices and composition. The principles of design, composition, value are learned using the traditional art materials of various pencils, watercolor, acrylic and pastel… or a combination of medium. Students should bring their own materials and their creativity, with a willingness to experiment with new ideas and/or new materials. If a beginner artist, bring a sketch pad (10×12), drawing pencils and a kneaded rubber eraser. To encourage growth as an artist, it is helpful to this instructor if for the first few sessions, students bring in a few samples of their art, to initiate a discussion about their learning goals.
