Commuters Warned Of North Jersey Coast Line Train Changes

There are schedule changes due to the Amtrak repairs at Penn Station. Take a look.

If you commute to North Jersey and New York via NJ Transit trains, officials are reminding commuters that there will be signficant changes to schedules because of Amtrak construction.

According to the NJ Transit website, the construction is set to begin Monday and will affect both the North Jersey Coast Line and the Northeast Corridor line.

"Beginning Monday, January 8 and continuing through Monday, May 28, 2018, service on NJ TRANSIT’s Northeast Corridor (NEC) and North Jersey Coast Line (NJCL) will be adjusted to accommodate Amtrak Track Rehabilitation work at Penn Station New York," NJ Transit says on its website.

New rail schedules took effect Sunday and affect all rail lines except the Atlantic City Line. The schedules can be viewed by clicking here.

Alternate Travel Options

Customers with flexibility in their travel may consider the following alternate options:

  • North Jersey Coast Line customers may consider using private bus carriers such as Academy Bus from locations including the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel. Visit academybus.com for complete details.
  • Customers may also use NJ TRANSIT bus service on the Route 9 corridor.
