County Clerk's Office To Hold Special Primary Voting Hours On Saturday

Residents who can't make it to the polls on Tuesday for the June primary can vote from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Want to vote in the June 2 primary, but can’t make it to the polls on Tuesday?

The Ocean County Clerk’s Office and the Ocean County Board of Elections are offering ”one-stop” early voting hours from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday in the basement of the county Board of Elections office at 129 Hooper Avenue in Toms River.

“This is an opportunity for primary voters who will not be able to go to the polls on Tuesday, June 2, to obtain and cast their ballot in person at one easy convenient location,” Ocean County Clerk Scott M. Colabella said.

Free parking is available in the Ocean County Parking Garage, next to the Board of Elections office.

The deadline for all applications for vote by mail ballots for the primary that are sent through the mail was Tuesday, May 26, in the County Clerk’s Office. Registered voters must apply in person after that at the County Clerk’s Election Office to obtain a vote by mail ballot for the primary election. Voters do not need a reason to use the vote by mail option in New Jersey.

The deadline for obtaining a vote by mail ballot in person is 3 p.m., on Monday, June 1. After that, voters must obtain a court order from a judge to allow them to apply for a vote by mail ballot.

The County Clerk’s Election Office is located in the Ocean County Courthouse, Room 107, 118 Washington St. in Toms River.

As of May 20, the County Clerk’s Election Office issued a total of 4,914 vote by mail ballots for the upcoming primary. Of that amount, 2,703 were issued to registered Republicans; 1,682 ballots were issued to registered Democrats and 529 ballots have been issued to unaffiliated voters.

There are 106,091 registered Republican voters in Ocean County, in addition to 71,518 registered Democrats, and 197,016 unaffiliated or undeclared voters.

All voters who wish to apply in person for a vote by mail ballot need to present proper identification such as a New Jersey driver’s lcense to prove their identity and sign their name as it appears in the voter registry book.
