Harrogate's Green Hat Society Campfire Sing-a-Long

Residents of Harrogate, a Life Care Continuing Care Retirement Community in Ocean County, have partnered with the Girl Scouts of Jersey Shore to celebrate the organization’s 100th Anniversary, and establish the Harrogate Green Hat Society. Members of the Green Hat Society and the local Girl Scouts troop will participate in various activities throughout the year to earn their 100th Anniversary patch.

Recently, the group hosted a birthday party, where members dressed as Girl Scout cookies to help Sarah
Jones of Howell, NJ sell cookies, and raise money to travel abroad to London, Paris, Barcelona and Madrid as a part of the Girl Scouts of Jersey Shore Wider Opportunities trip. Harrogate’s Green Hat Society also made “Tradition” pins which represent their accomplished good deeds. Additionally, the group attended a “Tea with Juliette” celebrating the founder of the Girl Scouts of the USA, Juliette Gordon Low.

In supporting the 100th Anniversary patch, Harrogate’s Green Hat Society will host a campfire sing-a-long on August 13, 2012. Members of the Green Hat Society and Girl Scouts of Jersey Shore will share their favorite campfire songs, cook hot dogs and make s’mores.

The Girl Scouts of Jersey Shore have three alumnae chapters including The Green Hat Society. These alumnae chapters are open to men and women, past and present Adult Girl Scouts, and to anyone that would like to be a member of Girl Scouts.
