The FBI described Ahmad Khan Rahami as a naturalized United States citizen of Afghan descent born on Jan. 23, 1988, in Afghanistan.

New Jersey State Police posted the FBI alert to the department's Facebook page Monday morning, and the Ocean County Sheriff's office had issued an alert via Nixle telling residents to be on the lookout for Rahami.
No one was injured in Saturday morning's Seaside Park bombing, which happened at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The start of the Semper Five 5K had been delayed after a citizen reported a suspicious backpack to authorities, and the delay prevented runners and spectators from being in the area of D Street and Ocean Avenue when the pipe bomb there detonated in a trash can, sending debris flying 150 feet in every direction. Two additional pipe bombs were found in the same garbage can but they did not detonate, authorities said.
On Monday, signs of the blast were gone but someone had placed American flags at the site, as seen in a photo shared by Lavallette resident Nick Honachefsky.
