Feds Subpoena Election Board Records On GOP Chair Gilmore: Report

Breaking: The subpoena orders delivery of the records to a federal grand jury by April 13, the report said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Another subpoena has been issued for records related to Ocean County Republican Chairman George P. Gilmore. This time, it's to the county Election Board, according to a report.

The Asbury Park Press reported the subpoena is seeking all records related to his position as chair of the election board from 2010 to the present. The records are to be delivered to a federal grand jury in Trenton by April 13, the report said.

Gilmore, 67, of Toms River, in under investigation related to his federal income taxes, according to his attorney, Kevin Marino. The investigation first came to light in December.

In January, subpoenas were issued to towns throughout Ocean County and to the county itself for all retainer agreements, resolutions or contracts for services by Gilmore and his firm.

Gilmore owes the federal government about $1 million in income taxes and the IRS has placed liens on his properties.

In addition to the legal work he does for towns throughout the county, Gilmore has been the head of the Ocean County Republican Party for decades and is considered one of the most influential Republican party heads in the state.
