Fierce Winds Knock Out Power To 3,000 In Ocean County

Breaking: The outages are mostly small pockets of 20 customers or fewer, according to JCP&L.

Jersey Central Power & Light is reporting about 3,000 customers have lost power in Ocean County Thursday morning as fierce winds from a cold front have brought down wires in a number of places.

The outages are scattered and most of them are small — fewer than 20 customers, according to JCP&L's outage map. But there are a few spots where more than 100 customers are without power, including one in Whiting in the area of Schoolhouse Road.

The company's outage map says the outages are weather-related and that it has called in extra crews to help restore power, but it has not given a timeframe on restoration.
