Firefighters Put Out Parkway Car Fire In Beachwood

Gasoline leaking from the gas tank made the fire challenging, firefighters said.

BEACHWOOD, NJ — A late-morning car fire sent smoke rising high above the Garden State Parkway in Beachwood Monday but was quickly extinguished.

The Beachwood Vounteer Fire Department posted photos of the fire on Facebook.

They and firefighters from Toms River and Pine Beach responded to the fire at milepost 80.7 northbound on the parkway about 11:30 a.m., the post said.

The fire was brought under control quickly, the post said, though gasoline leaking from the gas tank presented a challenge, the post said.
