Flooded Roads Prompt Warning From Toms River OEM

The heavy rains overnight into Friday have caused flooding in several areas, authorities said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River officials are warning motorists to be alert to flooded roads Friday as a result of several hours of heavy rain.

In a Nixle alert, the Toms River Office of Emergency Management said "multiple roadways" across the township are experiencing flooding.

The alert did not give specific locations but the eastern section of the township, particularly in the bayfront areas, frequently floods during storms.

"Please use extreme caution and turn around; don't drown," the alert said.
