Flooding Closes Part Of Route 35 On Barrier Island In Ocean County: Video

Heavy rain and high tides caused flooding in many coastal towns in northern Ocean County.

Flooding from heavy rain combined with higher tides caused by the storm Thursday closed part of Route 35 on the barrier island in northern Ocean County, authorities said.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Office sent an alert Thursday afternoon that Route 35 was closed south of Brick because of the flooding.

Video posted by Nick Honachefsky on social media (@nickhonachefsky on Instagram) showed the depth of the water on Route 35 in Ortley Beach.

Road flooding warnings and closures were reported in Brick, Point Pleasant, Point Pleasant Beach and Bay Head along with downtown Toms River.

Authorities urged people to avoid driving through flooded roads and to expect delays while traveling.
