Flu Vaccine, COVID Vaccine Offered By Ocean County Health Dept.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Ocean County Health Department has released the schedule of its flu vaccination clinics for the 2022-23 flu season.

In addition to flu shots, residents can get COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters at all of the flu clinics.

The health department will be offering the new Pfizer and Moderna bivalent booster for the COVID-19 vaccines on Monday, Sept 12, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Health Department's clinic at 175 Sunset Ave., Toms River.

The updated booster dose is a bivalent formula that both boosts immunity against the original coronavirus strain and also protects against the newer omicron variants that account for most of the current cases.

The CDC recommends that everyone who is eligible stay up-to-date on vaccinations by getting an updated booster dose at least 2 months after their last COVID-19 shot, whether it's a booster or since completing their primary series. Pfizer’s updated booster shot is authorized for individuals 12 and older, and Moderna’s is authorized for adults 18 and older.

The OCHD encourages registration for any of its designated vaccine locations. Register on the health department's website.
