Football: Toms River East Falls to Freehold Township

The Raiders score early but Freehold Township pulls away

It was another tough week for Toms River East.

The Raiders (0-5, 0-4), who have endured rough outings in Shore Conference Class A South so far this season, hosted Freehold Township on Friday night in a nondivisional game, and came away with a 34-13 loss to the Patriots.

The Raiders’ Nick Grande scored from 8 yards out in the second quarter to make the score 7-6 in favor of Freehold Township but that was as close as Toms River East could get. The Raiders scored their second touchdown in the third quarter.
