Brick Memorial's Tim Santiago rushes for more than 300 yards; the Mariners face Toms River South next week.

Brick Memorial quarterback Tim Santiago set a school rushing record for a quarterback as the Mustangs took out their frustrations of an opening-week loss, beating Toms River North 52-20 on Friday night at Brick Memorial.

The Mustangs (1-1, 1-1) opened the season with a 36-6 loss to crosstown rival Brick, which contained Santiago.

On Friday, Santiago ran wild, according to NJ.com, racking up 333 yards and four touchdowns against the Mariners in the Shore Conference Class A South football game.

Toms River North (1-1, 1-1), which opened the season with a victory over Lacey, kept pace with Brick Memorial initially, matching the Mustangs’ first two touchdowns, including a 33-yard score Ashanti Moorer that tied the game at 14-14.

But Brick Memorial turned up the heat, and Santiago took control after that.

The Mariners host Toms River South next Friday at 7 p.m.
