Football: Toms River South Falls to Southern Regional On FG
The Indians suffer a surprise loss at the hands of the Rams

Toms River South suffered a blow to its hopes of winning Shore Conference Class A South when the Indians fell to Southern Regional on a late field goal Saturday night, according to reports.
The Indians (3-2, 2-2) got a pair of touchdowns from quarterback Tymere Berry, but the story on Saturday was the defenses, which came up with big stops when it mattered. The biggest stop was saved for last by Southern, whicbh came away with a 16-13 victory.
Berry passed for a 27-yard score to Javion Harris in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7.

But Southern responded and took the lead, holding it until Berry scampered for a 53-yard touchdown late in the third quarter that tied the game 13-13 after Southern blocked the point-after.
The game remained tied and late in the fourth quarter, Toms River South had a chance, but the Rams stopped the Indians at the 1-yard line.

Toms River South returned the favor on the next series, stopping Southern at the 4-ard line. But on its next possession, Southern quickly moved to striking distance and opted for the 27-yard field goal attemp, which Brandon Barnetti converted for the victory.
Toms River South hosts Jackson Memorial next Friday at 7 p.m.
