The Shore Conference high school football season kicked off in full force Friday night, with mixed results for Toms River’s teams, according to the Shore Sports Network.
In the Battle of Hooper Avenue, Toms River South eased past Donovan Catholic 40-7 behind three touchdowns from quarterback Tymere Berry. The Indians rushed for more than 400 yards in the nondivisional game,
Quarterback David Calderon ran for a 31-yard touchdown for Donovan, which opened its season last weekend with a win over Pinelands.

Toms River East got a touchdown and 170 yards rushing from Jeff Wood, but fell to Southern Regional, 21-14, in a Shore Conference Class A South battle.
Toms River North opens its season tonight, hosting Lacey at 7 p.m.
