Friends Of Ortley Beach Set To Unveil Little Free Library

Borrow a book to read, or leave books for others. A local campaign to bring the Little Free Library to Ortley has come to fruition.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Have you ever gone to the beach and thought, "Gee, I wish I had a book to read?"

Beachgoers in Ortley Beach will be able to satisfy that desire now thanks to the Free Little Library that will open Sunday. The Friends of Ortley Beach is hosting an official unveiling of the library, which on Fielder Avenue by the Block House Lifeguard Station, at 10 a.m.

The Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that aims to inspire a love of reading. People are welcome to take a book and urged to leave a book they are through reading for someone else. Thousands of Little Free Libraries are spread out across the United States and are in 70 countries.

The idea was spearheaded by Theresa Borgese whose son, Dominic, 4, is learning to read this summer. A GoFundme campaign to raise $1,000 to purchase the two-level green box through the Little Free Library website, littlefreelibrary.org. As of Aug. 11, they had raised $585.
