Beach Badge notes

Submitted by Toms River Councilwoman Maria Maruca:

I am excited to share with you additional information regarding our new Senior ID and Beach Pass.  Residents ages 62 and older living in Toms River will now be able to receive a government-issued photo ID card enabling them to visit Township beaches for FREE.  The new lifetime Senior ID and Beach Pass provides access to Ortley Beach and Shelter Cove Beach, and there is no need to renew the card each year.

Seniors simply need to provide proof of their age and residency to receive the ID card.  Township representatives have already visited and distributed the ID’s to several senior communities including Holiday City I and II, Homestead Run, the Gardens of Pleasant Plains, and Lake Ridge.  Additional scheduled distributions include Greenbriar Woodlands at 1pm on April 8th and the Ortley Beach Homeowners Association at 9:00am on April 16th.

If there are seniors who are unable to attend these events, they can still get their beach pass at both the Snug Harbor Recreation Building on Warren Point Road and the Toms River Senior Center on Garfield Avenue now through May 27th. The pass will then be available at the Ortley Beach South Beach House for the remainder of the summer season.

For all other adults and non-residents, beach badges will be available at the pre-season rate of $35 per badge until Monday, May 30th, 2011.  Beginning Tuesday, May 31st, badges are $50.00 per badge.
