Concrete skeleton now taking shape on Route 37 next to older facility

Recent renovations can be seen along Route 37, especially if you are looking for a new Toyota or Scion.

Ed Sunday, General Manager of Gateway Toyota, recently spoke about new renovations taking place at the Route 37 car dealership.

"We have tentative plans to have two new buildings opening by the summer of 2012," said Sunday. "One will be a state-of-the-art service facility, approximately 30,000 square feet. The second phase of the operation will be a new sales building, also approximately 30,000 square feet."

"The new service facility will have the latest in technological computer equipment for diagnostics, the latest equipment in regards to car lifts and will be a cleaner, larger facility. We are expanding our service bays from 24 to 30 lifts with an automated car wash as well."

Sunday also said the customer lounge will be larger and more customer friendly.

Gateway Toyota has been very involved with the community over the last 17 years, and hopes the expansion will facilitate that further. For example, Sunday said Gateway Toyota has donated between $700,000 to $1 million back to the community. They also have a trip giveaway to Hawaii which will be drawn Labor Day Weekend in addition to supporting the Toms River Vest-a-Cop program.

Although the shell of the concrete building is now up, previously the project included asking to approve plans to use a portion of the common area between and to be eaten up by the project.

The construction is expected to continue until summer of 2012, Sunday said.
