Group Fixes Up Disabled Veteran's Home During 'A Brush With Kindness Event In Toms River
Wells Fargo also awarded a $15,000 grant to Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity to assiste with the rehab project

Volunteers from Wells Fargo’s community banking and home mortgage teams recently helped repair the home of a senior citizen homeowner, who is a disabled veteran, in Toms River.
Organized by Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity’s “A Brush with Kindness” program, the team of 11 volunteers spent Saturday, Sept. 18 painting the exterior of the house and performing minor repairs and cleanup tasks for the veteran.
The volunteer effort was led by Jersey Shore Community Banking Area President Nicole Burrell-Birt and Home Mortgage Branch Manager Luis Santa Cruz.

According to Burrell-Birt, the veteran went outside for “the very first time in years to look at the house when the volunteers were finished” with the renovations.
The Northern Ocean Habitat was awarded a $15,000 Wells Fargo Team Member Volunteer grant to support projects such as A Brush with Kindness.

A Brush with Kindness is an exterior home preservation program that offers painting, landscaping and minor repair services to eligible homeowners so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come, according to Habitat for Humanity’s website. Projects include painting, landscaping, weatherization and minor repair services.
