On Thursday, June 6th at 10 a.m., residents and staff of Harrogate, a Lakewood senior living community, honored and paid tribute to the soldiers, sailors and airmen who participated in the Normandy Invasion, which was said to provide ‘the Road to Liberty in Europe’.

Executive Director Charles Benjamin spoke about the late husband of Harrogate resident Charlotte Lomell, Bud. Bud Lomell, considered to be one of the most important individuals in the success of the operation, disabled powerful German weapons at Pointe Du Hoc, saving countless lives.

Historian Paul White gave the keynote address, as all recalled the incredible sacrifices made 75 years ago, which turned the tide of the war in favor of liberty.
