Have Breakfast With Shrek And Friends, Then Hear Them Sing

Toms River Intermediate South students presenting "Shrek The Musical Jr.," with a character breakfast for the littlest fans.

TOMS RIVER, NJ -- Fans of Shrek, Fiona and all their friends should be excited to know the characters are coming to the Toms River school district this weekend to tell their tale.

“Shrek The Musical Jr.” is scheduled for performances Friday, Feb. 12, and Saturday, Feb. 13 at Toms River Intermediate School South in Beachwood. And there’s a special event for younger fans: a chance to have breakfast with Shrek, Fiona and the clan on Saturday morning before a special shortened performance.

The students -- 6th through 8th graders -- will be presenting the story of Shrek, where once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task: if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.
