Honor America's Veterans On Veterans Day In Toms River

Wednesday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day and is a state and federal holiday, meaning government offices are closed.

Schools in the Toms River Regional School District are open, however.

Ocean County College will commemorate Veterans Day with two ceremonies on Wednesday. Both events are free and open to the public.

At noon, there will be a Salute to Veterans will be held outside at the Ocean County College Veterans Memorial on the Main Campus Mall, College Drive, Toms River.

A reception will immediately follow in the College’s Library Tower Room. (Note: In the event of rain, all activities will remain at the Memorial.)

The program will feature guest speaker U.S. Navy Capt. Christopher Bergen Deputy Commander, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, and Commanding Officer, Naval Support Activity Lakehurst; color guard from the United States Marine Corps League, Attachment 796, Toms River; Ocean County College Concert Band; rifle squad salute by the American Legion Post 129, Toms River; and Taps will be played by bugler Frank Richetti, United States Marine Corps League.
