Icy Forecast Prompts Delayed Opening Jan. 17 For Toms River Schools

Frigid temperatures are expected to make surfaces very slick in the morning, the National Weather Service said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Frigid temperatures that are expected to create icy conditions well into the morning commute have prompted a delayed opening again Wednesday for the Toms River Regional School District.

"Due to the anticipated icy conditions, we're implementing a 90-minute delayed opening tomorrow, Jan. 17," the district announced.

Morning preschool, morning vocational, and morning Y-Kids are canceled.
