Island Heights School Collecting For Food Pantry

ISLAND HEIGHTS, NJ — Island Heights Grade School is conducting a food drive to help those in need in the community.

Nonperishable foods will be collected at the school, 115 Summit Ave., from noon to 2 p.m. A handful of staff members will be collecting the items in a drive-through format in the school's drop-off line. They will be wearing masks and gloves and will be accepting the items as they are passed from vehicles through the vehicles' windows.

All of the food will be donated to the United Methodist Church in Island Heights for distribution to families in town.

Food pantries around the state have been working to assist families that are struggling as a result of job losses during the coronavirus outbreak.
