Lakewood Man Killed In Concrete Crusher Accident In South Toms River

Man was greasing gears on Friday morning when the accident occurred, authorities say.

A Lakewood man died this morning in South Toms River after he slipped while greasing a concrete crusher and fell into the machine, a spokesperson for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The accident happened at Suffolk Contracting on Dover Road at about 8:46 p.m. South Toms River police and MONOC paramedics extricated the man and took him to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where he was pronounced at 9:43 a.m., Della Fave said.

The machine was running at idling speed when the accident occurred, he said.

The accident is under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the South Toms River Police Department, he said.
