Lavallette To Partially Open Its Beach
The boardwalk will remain closed until further notice, but may be crossed to get to the beach, town officials said.

LAVALLETTE, NJ — If you've been wishing you could walk on the beach, Lavallette will be granting that wish beginning Wednesday.
The borough announced it will allow access for running, walking, fishing and sitting, but social distancing must be practiced. The opening of the beach for exercise aims to allow people an option for getting fresh air.
Beaches in Ocean County were closed in late March in the midst of efforts to slow the spread of the new coronavirus. There have now been more than 130,500 New Jersey residents who have tested positive, including more than 7,000 in Ocean County, according to the state Department of Health on Tuesday. More than 8,200 residents have died from complications of COVID-19, as of Tuesday.

While the beach will be accessible, the Lavallette boardwalk will remain closed until further notice; it can be crossed to access the beach ramps, officials said.

On the beach, strict social distancing must be practiced, including staying at least 6 feet or more away from anyone you are not currently quarantined with.
All permanent beach rules continue to apply, including but not limited to: No animals on beach, No smoking or vaping, No organized games or activities, No alcoholic beverages. Read more: NJ Coronavirus Updates: Here's What You Need To Know
Lavallette's beach opening is scheduled for June 20, but that date could change.
"Once the state of New Jersey achieves all required objectives in order to begin relaxing the stay-at-home and social distancing guidelines, borough officials will be able to make a formal decision and release details regarding the official opening date and any modifications to the beach operations," borough officials said.
Seasonal beach badge prices will remain at the $50 preseason price throughout the summer; they will not increase after June 20.
Refunds are generally not permitted, but borough officials said they will review that policy if there is no opening.
