Let's Hear It For The Dads: Harold Scudieri
He was our Superman, writes his daughter, Jamie.

We asked you to tell us about your dads -- what makes them special, what makes them your heroes -- as we celebrate Father’s Day.
Jamie Scudieri of Toms River wrote in about her dad, Harold Scudieri:
“I saw your post about the Father’s Day entry and figured I would let you know what makes my dad special. His name is Harold Scudieri and he grew up in Belleville but resided in Toms River.”

“Where do I even begin. He was the most hardworking, caring, loving and funniest man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He did everything he could for everyone he knew, everyone loved him. Harold was always happy and was willing to talk to anyone who would listen to him. My father was that man who would drive in front of you on the road but instead of looking straight, his head was looking out the window because he loved life and everything around him. He was always so curious.
“When my mother was diagnosed with brain cancer, he was her Superman. He did everything for her and still made sure me and my older siblings were still living as normal of a life as possible. Working a fulltime job, taking my mother back and forth to the hospital, all while still making it to my lacrosse games. He was diagnosed with lung cancer one year before my mother lost her battle but he didn’t skip a beat, still working every day, taking care of my mother and our family like the Superman he was.

“Unfortunately, he lost his battle in April of 2011 but his fight was incredible. The will power and strength that man had was unbelievable. This will be my fourth Father’s Day without him and I miss him but I know his strength lives on in me. I live every day for him and I can only hope I’m making him proud, just like he did for us.”
