Man Arrested In Toms River Bank Robbery: Police

Patrick T. Callahan of Toms River was arrested in Mount Laurel on Thursday, Toms River police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Toms River man accused of robbing a township bank on New Year's Eve has been arrested, Toms River police said Thursday night.

Patrick T. Callahan, 45 of Toms River, was arrested by Mount Laurel police in Burlington County, said Jillian Messina, media specialist for the Toms River Police Department.

He was found after a tip that resulted from the Toms River police department's posting about the robbery on social media, she said.

During the robbery on Tuesday afternoon at the Chase Bank off Route 166 in the Crossroads Plaza, the man, who police say is Callahan, gave a note to a teller, and then left with an undisclosed amount of money.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Department Crime Scene Unit, K-9 Unit, and the FBI Red Bank Office assisted in the investigation.

Callahan was being held in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing. He has been charged with robbery, according to the Ocean County Corrections website.
