Man Sought In Theft Of 82-Year-Old Woman's Wallet In Toms River: Police

Breaking: The Manchester woman told police the wallet was taken from her cart, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man they say stole a wallet from an 82-year-old woman at ShopRite.

The incident happened Tuesday at the ShopRite at 2 Route 37 West, Toms River Police spokesman Ralph Stocco said.

Officer Scott Fallano responded to the Shoprite and met the woman, a Manchester resident who was reporting that her wallet was stolen from her shopping cart, Stocco said. The wallet appears to have been removed from her cart around 2 p.m., he said.

The investigation developed a person of interest that Toms River detectives would like to speak to, he said.

The man is described as a white man in his 40s who was wearing glasses, Stocco said. On Tuesday he was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and sneakers with white laces, he said.
