Mathis House Hosts 'Christmas Carol' Tea Party

Ghosts and humans are alike are invited to attend a live reading of Lewis Carroll's "A Christmas Carol" Tuesday night, with tea and scones.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Join the Ghosts – and townsfolk – of Christmas Past and Present Tuesday evening to hear a story from 1843 inside a house from 1898.

The Mathis House, a Victorian bed & breakfast at 600 Main Street, will sponsor a reading of Lewis Carroll’s beloved novella “A Christmas Carol,” that will be performed Tuesday at 6 by a theater group in costume.

Each ticket holder will be treated to two warm scones, clotted cream, lemon curd, and a pot of tea. The Mathis House will be decorated to the nines, with holiday trees and a “North Pole” gift shop.
