Meeting Changes, Public Works Schedule For Thanksgiving In Toms River

There are several changes to meetings in the township because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Thanksgiving holiday week brings with it a number of schedule changes to meetings and to town services.

The Township Council meeting, usually held on Wednesdays, is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. in the L. Manuel Hirschblond meeting room in town hall, 33 Washington St. The township council meetings in December are set to begin at 5 p.m., also on Tuesdays, Dec. 5 and Dec. 19.

The Toms River Regional Board of Education also is set for Tuesday, Nov. 21. The executive session begins at 6 p.m. and the business portion of the meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.

In addition, the meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission, set for Monday, Nov. 20, has been canceled. The commission meetings will resume in January.

All township offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of the holiday.

There will be no garbage or recycling collections on Thursday because of Thanksgiving. They will resume on Friday with a one-day delay, meaning those whose trash and recycling are normally picked up Thursday will have collection on Friday, and Friday collections will be Saturday.

Bulk pickups for areas that would receive it on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and Thursday, Nov. 23 will be done on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Extra recycling pickup will be Wednesday as well.

The Recycling Convenience Center will be open from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25.
