TOMS RIVER, NJ — If you're a fan of southwestern-style food, especially burritos, you're going to want to get in line (literally) on Thursday for the grand opening of Moe's Southwestern Grill.

The restaurant, which is opening in the Toms River Shopping Center at 1 Route 7 West, will be offering free burritos for a year to the first 50 guests in line Thursday, the restaurant announced.

That's just one of the ways the restaurant is celebrating the opening of its new location: it also will be hosting a fundraiser for the Toms River Police Foundation on Friday and a fundraiser competition among Toms River East, Toms River North and Toms River South.

“Moe’s is a rapidly growing brand with a loyal following across the country. We’ve been so well received in north Jersey that it was time to bring Moe’s to south Jersey,” said Lee DiPrizito, the franchise owner in Toms River. “We’re eager to open our doors and look forward to building long-lasting relationships with our guests and the community.”

On Thursday at the grand opening, the first 50 customers in line will receive free burritos for a year, which entitles the winner to one free burrito per week at the Toms River Moe's, the restaurant said. In addition, there will be $5 burritos for all customers. The store opens at 11 a.m.

On Friday, the restaurant will be offering 50 percent off lunch to all first responders from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with 50 percent of the proceeds donated to the Toms River Police Foundation.

The fundraiser competition among Toms River East, North and South will be spread out over the coming weeks. Each school will have a one-day fundraiser where 15 percent of all pretax sales will be donated to the respective school. The school that raises the most money at their fundraiser will win a $5 burrito day at the Toms River Moe’s.
