Motorcyclist Airlifted After Route 37 Crash In Toms River: Police
The man, from southern Ocean County, was thrown from his motorcycle during the crash on Saturday evening, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Southern Ocean County man was airlifted Saturday evening after he was injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a car on Route 37 in Toms River, police said Monday.
Cory L. Eckstadt, 23, of the West Creek section of Eagleswood, was driving a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on Route 37 about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday when he collided with a 2009 Honda Civic as he crossed into the intersection with Peter Avenue, said Jillian Messina, media specialist for the Toms River Police Department.
The Civic was being driven by Gerard A. Straniero Jr., 55, of Toms River, who had the green light and right of way and was driving south on Peter Avenue, she said.

The impact caused Eckstadt to be thrown about 100 feet from his motorcycle and he landed on the center grassy median of Route 37, Messina said. Eckstadt sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where he was listed as stable as of Saturday evening, she said.
The accident is under investigation by Toms River Traffic Safety Officer PJ Gambardella.
