The snow gave way to heavy rain, making for a messy commute Monday morning. Snow plows were out removing ice and snow from the roads, but many areas were still impacted.

A winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service was still in effect in Morris, Warren and Sussex counties as snow was expected to turn into freezing rain. A hazardous weather outlook was in effect in the rest of the state.
