In Ocean County, 49K Votes Still To Be Counted

If you've been waiting for confirmation that your vote was counted in the county in 2020, be patient. Officials are still counting.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — If you've been waiting to see whether your vote was accepted in Ocean County, be patient a little longer: officials are still tabulating the ballots.

There are a little over 49,000 mail-in ballots to be counted as of Wednesday, Ocean County Clerk Scott A. Colabella said by email.

Those 49,000 do not include mail-in ballots that were postmarked Nov. 3 but have not arrived at the Board of Elections yet. Ballots postmarked by Nov. 3 and received at the Board of Elections no later than 8 p.m. on Nov. 10 will be counted, Colabella said.

The county has tallies 273,283 ballots so far, according to the Ocean County election results website.

The Asbury Park Press reported there were 430,560 ballots mailed to eligible voters in Ocean County; of those, 302,646 were returned by 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Information on the town-by-town breakdown of the 49,000 votes that need to be counted was not available, but those votes have the potential to affect races that were close as of Tuesday evening.

Colabella said the county election results would be updated periodically with additional votes.
