Ocean County College Announces Graduation Ceremony Plans
A virtual ceremony now and an invitation to participate in an in-person ceremony later are among the arrangements.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Ocean County College will hold a virtual commencement ceremony to celebrate its 2020 graduates, the college announced Monday.
The ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. on June 16.
"The virtual commencement ceremony will serve as a way for our campus community to safely celebrate and reflect on the end of the 2019-20 academic year, even as we continue to live, work, teach, and learn in accordance with social distancing guidelines," OCC President Jon H. Larson said.

The college will create a video with recorded speeches, photos and text announcements of each graduate’s name, degree, and honors, and customized slides featuring personal recognition, photos, and messages from the Class of 2020.
Caps and gowns will be delivered to the homes of graduates at no cost, allowing them to take photos wearing the regalia for inclusion in the virtual ceremony and to proudly post as they normally would.

The college hopes to resume its traditional Commencement Ceremony in May 2021, and 2020 graduates will be invited to return to campus to celebrate in person, college officials said.
