Ocean County College Evacuation Prompted By Weighted MMA Vest
A student was wearing the vest in preparation for an upcoming mixed martial arts fight, police said.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — A student wearing a weighted training vest for an upcoming mixed martial arts fight led to a brief scare and evacuation at Ocean County College's Gateway building on Monday morning.
Witnesses told Patch the building was evacuated briefly while Toms River police officers searched the premises, but an all-clear was issued and students and staff were back in the building by 8 a.m.
There was no threat, Toms River police said.
