Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Postponed

Rain expected for much of the day on Sunday has prompted officials to reschedule the parade.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — The Ocean County Columbus Day Parade has been postponed due to heavy rain in the forecast for Sunday afternoon, officials announced.

The parade has been rescheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, the parade committee said.

"We regret to inform that due the weather conditions, the committee and the township officials have decided to postpone the parade to next Sunday October 17th at 1 pm. Thank you for your support," the committee said on its Facebook page.

Rain is predicted to continue through 5 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Accuweather forecast.

The Italian festival is still being held, but committee officials said it was up to each vendor whether or not they decided to open.
