Ocean County Library Closes All Branches Amid Coronavirus Spread

Library officials say there are a number of online resources available to help residents access free entertainment to pass the time.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Ocean County Library has closed all of its branches for two weeks amid the spread of the new coronavirus, the library system has announced.

But the library system also is reminding patrons and residents that it has numerous digital resources materials, online learning resources, and prerecorded and live-streamed library programs available 24 hours a day through its website.

"(The materials) are available to you for entertainment, education and information 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Enjoy free eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, magazines, and more for children, teens, and adults," the library system announcement said.

The branches are scheduled to be closed through March 29, and plans to reopen March 30.

In the meantime, the library is waiving all late fees and will automatically extend the due dates of all books and materials that have been checked out.

"The book drops at all library branches will be closed. Please help the library by not leaving library books and materials outside our doors, but keep them with you until we reopen," the notice said.
