Ocean County Library Evacuated, Closed After Battery Malfunction
The Toms River branch will be closed for the remainder of Thursday, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The main branch of the Ocean County Library in Toms River closed early on Thursday after an odor led to the discovery of a battery malfunction, police said.
Toms River police said they received a report of an odor in the basement of the library, at 101 Washington St. It turned out to be caused by a battery malfunction.
The building was evacuated as a precaution and was closed for the rest of the day, police said.

The Berkeley Township Hazardous Materials team ventilated the building, police said.
