Ocean County Plans Wreath-Laying To Mark 9/11 Anniversary

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Ocean County officials will mark the 16th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 by laying wreaths at the county's September 11 Memorial monument on Hooper Avenue, county officials announced.

Ocean County Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari will be joined by Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, in placing wreaths at the September 11 Memorial and at the nearby monument recognizing the military personnel from Ocean County who have died during the ongoing War on Terror.

The monuments are located in the courtyard between the prosecutor's office and part of the Ocean County court complex, at 119 Hooper Ave. and 129 Hooper Ave.

"We remember the thousands of victims of the terrorist attacks on American soil in New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania," Vicari said. "We remember our 19 residents from the county and all those who had connections to Ocean County who were lost that day. It was a day in our history that we will never forget."

The public is invited to attend.
